Cardinal Weather Service

In the fall semester of 2017 my colleague, Petra Zimmermann, and I started the Cardinal Weather Service (CWS) through support from a Ball State Immersive Learning Grant and the Department of Geography and Meteorology. The goal of the CWS is to give meteorology and climatology students opportunities to apply and practice the skills learned in the classroom by working with real-world partners both outside and within the university. Forecasts are sent directly to community partners and are tailored to their specific needs, while general forecasts are shared with the university and local communities through social media. The CWS website also includes blog posts covering various topics related to weather and climate. Students earn credit for their work with the CWS through METC 426: Client-based Forecasting.

I encourage you to check out what the students have been working on!
